Surfers Charged Over McConaughey Beach Battle
Beach bros may eat it in court: Just as the new Matthew McConaughey movie 'Surfer, Dude' is about to hit theaters, trouble is brewing for some real life surfer dudes who police say took it upon themselves to block the paparazzi from photographing the actor at the beach.
In a widely viewed video taken in June on a Malibu beach, a confrontation erupted between a group of surfers and the paps when they tried to get shots of McConaughey hitting the waves. He was not involved in the confrontation.
Now two men, Skylar Peak and Philip Hildebrand, are being charged with misdemeanor battery for allegedly throwing a photographer and his equipment into the water.
But a rep for Peak says that story is totally not righteous. "We believe that a complete investigation, including looking at the tapes, will show that Skylar defended himself," his publicist told the AP.
The men will be arraigned in October.
