Michael Phelps Nervous About 'SNL' Freestyle

Olympic superstar and record-breaker Michael Phelps may be the epitome of grace and poise when he's battling for world titles in the Olympic pool, but now something is giving him a case of the nerves -- acting!

The swimming gold-medal champ said Thursday he was nervous about his "Saturday Night Live" acting debut this weekend, Reuters reports.

Phelps, 23, will be the guest host of the comedy show on its 34th season's opening episode Saturday.

"I'm probably more nervous doing this than I was swimming in the Olympics," the swimming icon tells Reuters.

He is, however, confident his wit and sarcasm will carry him through the funny show.

And he's done his research too! Phelps has enlisted the advice of "SNL" veteran Adam Sandler, and tips from actors Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, says Reuters.

At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Phelps won a record eight gold medals in a single game, bringing his total gold-medal count to 14.
